Further Beresford charge
Beresford has until 6pm on Wednesday 15 February to admit or deny the charge. A Disciplinary Commission will hear the case on Tuesday 21 February.
If guilty, he has been very foolish, it was never going to make the referee change his mind and could only exacerbate the situation. It was out of character for the mild mannered keeper. The red card was erroneously issued and his appeal against it was successful.
It is to be hoped that his previous good character and the provocation of an unjust red card will elicit a measure of leniency from the FA commission. But don't hold your breath!
