My view is that he probably will, but signing the mysterious 'on the table since last December' contract would be a step forward in quelling the fears of those fans who are worried.
I hope he stays, but if he decided to move on, I don't think it would be the end of the world. The basis of a good squad is there already, and, as Steiny said, add six quality players to the squad and we should be contenders at least, and there are always good managers out of work!
