Luton v Cambridge: AWK's take on the match

I'm feeling very disillusioned with Luton right at the moment after yet another throw away against a distinctly average Cambridge side.

First half was dull with the only real chance falling to Cambridge following Keane running past their player rather than tackling him, the United forward proceeded to miss the target when he should have scored.

Second half a lot better as we started to make chances at last, we scored from a cracking free kick from Nico which was turned in by Claude and after missing a few good chances we doubled the lead when Craddock hit a terrific shot which curled away from the keeper and into the back of the net.

At this point (we went two up with just 11 minutes to play) Cambridge had offered NOTHING as an attacking outfit ALL game, so Luton decided to make a game of it by setting them up with a few chances, Nico passes a suicide ball to Willmott, who evades Murray's desperate last ditch tackle before having his shot saved by Pilks. As the Luton defence stand admiring the save, up pops Crow to head into an open goal.

Still Cambridge have been poor in the last third all game so surely they wont get an equaliser will they? Well they get into the box and Murray dives in with a needless challenge and lo and behold they get a penalty! Pilkington jumps around on his line before saving the spot kick, great stuff surely now we will win? Going into the last minute Claude makes a silly foul to concede a free kick and the resulting set piece is headed against his own post by Pilks (George) and as it comes out it drops to a Cambridge player who is subsequently chopped down by a desperate lunge from Nico, pen number 2. This time Crow steps up to take it and puts it away for the equaliser 2-2.

Absolutely unbelievable, we were comfortable until we just imploded, both Cambridge goals were down to Luton, as well as the missed penalty.

Our last 4 home matches have seen us drop our first ever points (at home) to York, lose to Rushden & Diamonds for the first time and throw away 3 goal and 2 goal leads. Can't wait for the next home game vs Kettering to see what we can screw up!
