Maistone United have appealed to the FA over an alleged ineligible player being fielded by Histon in their FA Trophy match on Tuesday evening. As a result of the appeal, Histon's next round tie against Salisbury, which caused the postponement of Luton's league match at Histon, has itself been postponed.
The knock on effect of this sees Luton's originally scheduled League match at the Glassworld Stadium, on Wednesday night, being reinstated.
The alleged offence involves West Ham loanee, Jack Werndly, who played for 70 minutes of the Trophy tie. FA Trophy rules state that only players eligible for the original date of the tie, December 12 2009, remain eligible when the tie is actually played and Maidstone believe that this rule has been broken.
The FA cannot hear the appeal in time for the scheduled next round match and so Luton will now visit the Stutes as originally planned
Luton manager Richard Money said:
'It's nothing we can control but we are very happy to have a fixture because we have a lot of midweek games to fit in.'
