Luton add Crow to the mix

Luton Town have announced that they have finalised the capture of Cambridge United striker Danny Crow, on a two year contract, after an on/off saga lasting a week.

The 'U's top scorer asked for time to consider all his options before putting pen to paper, but has thrown his hat in with the Hatters.

Crow impressed in the 2-2 draw at Kenilworth Road last season scoring both Cambridge goals on his way to a season's haul of 19 goals. He had the 'U's highest shot tally of 75.

He started out as a trainee with Norwich City and played in the Premier League for the Canaries in 2004/5 season.

He later joined Peterborough scoring 23 in 77 appearances before a loan spell at Notts County where he netted twice in ten games. His scoring record for his next club, Cambridge United was 22 in 61 games making a career average of close on 1 goal per 3 games.

He won the on-line Player of the Year award at Cambridge last year.

Richard Money has been very active in securing the players he wants to keep and bringing in new players and it is clear that the club means business this year.

It appears that we will once again have the largest squad in the division and the best players, so it is to be hoped that they can gel as a team from the start next season, rather than the hit and miss form they showed for the first third of last season.

I believe that a target man is still on the shopping list and more current players are in discussion about contract extensions. Whether these will bear fruit remains to be seen, but the strengthening of the squad may just be the catalyst to get their commitment.

If you'd told me 10 years ago that that would ever happen I'd have recommended psychiatric help! :-)
