Another solid performance by the Hatters saw them see off the threat of top of the league AFC Wimbledon on Friday evening.
Luton's aerial threat from set pieces proved the undoing of the Dons and a trademark George Pilkington header from a Drury corner from the left gave the Town a deserved lead after they had weathered a plucky start from the visitors.
A Fred Murray long throw was then headed in by Zdenek Kroca for 2-0 before the break as Luton dominated the play. The midfield battle was won by Luton's four against the Dons' five and although the visitors looked dangerous on occasion when they came forward an excellent display all round kept the threat to a minimum.
Five minutes before half time a cross into the penalty area saw the ball rebound off Newton straight to Danny Kedwell who from just on the penalty spot drove the ball powerfully goalwards but Tyler in the Luton goal got everything behind it and although it beat his gloves it cannoned of the side of his head out for a corner keeping his sheet clean at the half time interval.
Early in the second half some neat interchanges fed Barnes-Homer, who had already hit a post in the first half, and he took a touch to steady it and drove it with the outside of his boot curling it into the bottom left hand corner of the net for an unassailable 3-0 lead.
Despite some effort by Wimbledon to get back into the game Tyler was not going to be beaten and some tireless running by Jake Howells making some excellent tackles, together with staunch defending by all of the back four, saw the Hatters deservedly pouch all three points to move up to third just two points behind the Dons.
Crawley's win on Saturday saw them go to the top of the table at Wimbledon's expense and these two meet on Thursday, while the Town travel to Darlington on Tuesday night.
It is difficult to fault any of the players on this performance and the front pairing of Tai Atieno and Barnes-Homer looks to be developing nicely.
Despite seeing George Pilkington named man of the match, I feel that almost unnoticed, jake Howells covered nearly every blade of grass in the ninety minutes and deserves the accolade for me.
