Luton win again

Luton Town made it three victories in a week by taking the honours 2-1 at Broadhall Way this afternoon.

Ahmet Brkovic's header on 4 minutes and a Steve Robinson goal after 43 minutes gave Luton a two goal lead at half-time.

However, a certain Tony Thorpe, who came on as a substitute was bound to score and did so. He received not a warm reception, more a hot one, from the Town faithful, who will never, it seems, allow him to forget the fact that he baled out at the earliest opportunity when Luton went into Administrative Receivership.

A few less than savoury songs have been sung about the former QPR, and Luton deserter, since that day!

Town coach Brian Stein said afterwards:

'It was a fitness exercise really. We are trying to give all the players as many minutes as possible.

'I don't think the results are really that important to be honest. You get no prize for winning games now, it is all when the season starts.'



Referee Darren Deadman has obviously had a read of the Laws since midweek, as he was not Fazed by the number of substitutions in this match, having refused to sanction Wednesday's match at St Albans, a decision which has left him in hot water with the FA.
