Luton: Steve Howard signs for Derby
Steve Howard has signed for Derby County in a 3 year deal for £ 1 Million, according to Sky Sports.
It appears to be a very good piece of business after Mike Newell stated that every player has a price, but he will not be 'giving players away'.
Howard who was one of Joe Kinnear's £ 50K specials was not quite the player we knew last season and provided Newell is given a good proportion of the fee to reinvest then I say good luck to Steve and thanks for the wonderful service he has given the club.
It is believed that Newell has tabled a £ 650K bid for Adam Boyd of Hartlepool who would be an excellent replacement for Howie.

I've always thought that Howard is a good player. Shame to see him go, but maybe he just needs a new challenge. Adam Boyd to replace him?? Good plan - another player I admire. Great striker. Good luck!

Call me a good old pessimist but i hope this is not a sign of selling off our best players to pay for the new stadium. looks like Carlos might be going, Nico has been mentioned and now howard has gone. i would like to see a good signing now to give me faith that this is not clearout time, Having watched teletext and the transfer market and watched great signings go to other clubs you begin to wonder.... If we get Adam Boyd faith will be restored and another defender would seal it!!

Leeds have just Brought Nico for £700,000 according to sky sports news 1.00pm ,a bit of sunday trading going on!!!,funny how the official web site have not mentioned either howies or nico's sales,looks like Carlos will be sold on monday!!!!!!!

Oh God i never dreamed i was right! they had better come up with some tasty replacements especially for Nico. I could have stomached these players going to premier clubs but the same division as us!!! It feels like th backbone of the team has been ripped out and no-one to replace them except for League 2 players available on a free. Feeney failed last year he has to improve but who will partner him?

Don't worry all will be well. The team wasn't good enough last season. Some players were looking stale and others who were not ready will be coming good. Langley was bought to replace Nicholls, Bell will be a great player, O'Leary and Andrew have come on loads, as has Barnett. A centre half deal is at an advanced stage and more than one striker are being chased. Emanuel was bought as Unders will be a while. The team needed to be shaken up and it's happening. Optimism prevails!
