Luton skipper on his way
Leeds United and Luton Town have agreed a £700,000 fee for midfielder Kevin Nicholls.
The 27-year-old was subject to an earlier bid by Leeds of £700K for both Nicholls and Howard, which was dismissed by Mike Newell as derisory. Howard yesterday signed for Derby County after the Rams forked over £1m.
Nicholls will undergo a medical and discuss terms at Elland Road and is expected to sign before the end of the week.
Nicholls, who made nearly 200 appearances for Luton, scoring 33 goals, was signed by Luton for £150K from Wigan.
The loss of Howard and Nicholls seems predicated upon Newell's unwillingness to offer ageing players who are the club's highest earners, more than 1 year deals at the club, which has displeased the players.
However, £1.7m for two such players seems good business and should pave the way for some fresh faces at the club.

Yeah fine IF we replace them with younger quicker blood.But i aint about to hold my breath. Ive been supporting Luton too long to know what happens next......No replacement,s Division 1 were knocking to come in .

IF ITS SOME CONSULATION AT LEAST THESE PLAYERS ARE LEAVING AND PUTTING MONEY BACK INTO THE CLUB AFTER YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE ,UNLIKE MR THORPE WHEN HE JUMPED SHIP........HOPEFULLY THIS CASH WILL BE SPENT ON REBUILDING THE TEAM WE LOVE ,THE MIGHTY LUTON TOWN.........
