In days of old, Knights had Coats of Arms on their shields and cloaks - something to identify them by in the heat of battle. These crests have lasted for centuries, some becoming crests for villages, towns or even cities.
Why, then, do football clubs have a problem with their identities, none more so than Luton Town?
We have had some fantastic kits over the years, probably most famous being Eric Morecambe`s own 'liquorice allsorts' kit design; for yes, it was he who came up with Luton`s now retro orange, black and white striped jersey design.
I have been supporting Luton for 30 odd years, and the one kit I seem to remember the most, and the one which other fans seem immediately to think of when Luton are mentioned, and which Luton fans want and long for the most, is finally back, in modernised form.
Ok - it`s our reserve kit at the moment, but it`s a start. It may not have been worn during the 1959 F.A. cup final against Forest, or the 1988 slaughter of Arsenal in the Littlewoods cup final, but I reckon more Luton faithful had worn this design than any other.
'Orange, Orange, Black and White - Orange, Black and White!' Was probably the first chant I can remember at Luton, and let`s make it so again.
I wager that more of us will be wearing the orange 'allsorts' kit this season than any other.
Let the Kenny be a splash of orange, and let us keep some form of identity in what is going to be a very exciting few years for us; a change of ground, maybe, but always the same shield and cloak!

Nice one Lord Luton - I guess that over the years the call of the £££ from having new designs every year leads to small cchanges becoming big ones.
I agree with you - let's have an identity and only slight changes in style or design, but always keeping the main colours for our cloak and shield!

Yep, i love the orange kit. I do believe we should just use that one for all games with a little bit of the black,white & blue added to it.

Orange black and white ,I agree lets keep it as that ,we dont need any other colours , I could never understand where the royal blue eleiment of our kits during the 90's came from, and as for the orange and purple 3rd kit of the same era, that must rank as our worst kit ever , I think the current home Kit is the best looking for years its un-complicated ,a real blast from the past ,It reminds me of Malcolm Mcdonalds days at club when as a boy I started watching Luton rather than go to Spurs with my mate and his dad ,The new orange kit is superb it will be a best seller ,Thats if we can get our hands on it !!

HOPEFULLY WE'LL HAVE MORE LUCK AWAY FROM HOME IN THE NEW ORANGE KIT THAN WE DID IN THE BLACK KIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THE BLACK KIT WAS SMART ,BUT IT WAS NEVER LUCKY........

THAT ORANGE & PURPLE (MORE SALMON & MAUVE) STRIPPED 3RD KIT WEMBLEY88 MENTIONED , I HAVE TO OWN UP I BROUGHT ONE.....THE THINGS WE DO FOR THE LOVE OF OUR TEAM.......I BET THE DESIGNER WAS HALF-CUT WHEN HE/SHE DESIGNED THAT ONE!!!!!! I MUST HAVE BEEN WHEN I BROUGHT IT.....

Unfortunately (luckily??!!) I was a mere 2 years old when that specific kit came out, the blessings of youth! Mind you, it means I don't remember our glorious day at Wembley....my lucky parents left me with the babysitter and went though. Pah.

WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU MCH ,IN 1988 HAPPENED TO ME FOR THE 1959 CUP FINAL I WAS 3 MONTHS OLD........BUT MY DAD SAVED ME HIS TICKET STUB, PROGRAM, ROSETTE AND GREAT MEMORIES OF THAT DAY ,BEST THING WAS LAST YEAR I MANAGED TO GET A COPY OF THE 1959 CUP FINAL ON DVD OFF OF EBAY.......I WONDER IF MULTIPLEX WILL HAVE WEMBLEY FINISHED BY THE TIME WE QUALIFY FOR ANOTHER FINAL ?????????????????????

I was 8 in 1959 and cried for hours! Poor little soldier! Have never been able to watch Forest without it coming back. Of course they had to do it again in '89, it's a wonder I'm not hospitalised!

My cousins are die-hard Derby fans, so theres quite a strong family dislike of Forest at my end! Mind you, they look set to do well this season, so we could well be battling against them next season (unless we get promoted of course! ;-) )
