Luton: no signings before Saturday?
Mike Newell has said that he does not believe there will be any more signings prior to the big kick off.
He is still trying to bring in a Premiership striker on a season long loan but because the Premiership clubs are a week behind the Championship clubs in preparation for the season, it may be next week before anything new happens.
Strikers linked as possibles for the loan player are Blackburn's Matt Derbyshire and Paul Gallagher, and Liverpool's Neil Mellor.
He is also looking for a central defender, but Brian Stein is quoted as commenting that because Luton are known to have brought in £1.7m from the sale of Steve Howard and Kevin Nicholls, clubs are doubling and even trebling the transfer fees required for players, and Luton will not stand for that.
There seem to have been no further developments on the rumour that we were about to sign Mika Koppinen from FC Rosenborg.

Shame we don't seem to be getting anyone in, could really use another striker and central defender, but I'm confident we'll find what we need in the near future. Typcial that clubs have raised their prices, shame we couldn't have done a couple of deals at the same time as the KN and SH sales before clubs realised that they could raise their prices with us. Ah well, oonwards and upwards.
