'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Luton 3 Southport 1

Back-to-back wins have eased those fears relating to Luton not being up to the rigours of a promotion season.

Yesterday, at Kenilworth Road, Southport were the latest team the Hatters brushed aside, courtesy of a brace from Scot Rendell.

In fact Luton got off to the kind of dream start they often crave when they took the lead with four minutes on the clock.

The goal coming after Stuart Fleetwood found the net curling home a shot from the edge of the area, the goal being his 9th of the campaign.

But Luton failed to capitalise on the good start and were back on level terms when Andrew Parry forced a low ball past Mark Tyler.

A blast from Paul Buckle, during the break, saw Luton come out and play far better, with Luton taking the lead three minutes into the half. Some impressive link-up play from Fleetwood and O`Donnell saw Rendell net the first of his brace from close range.

Nine minutes into the half, Luton made the game safe when Fleetwood was fouled in the box, by Parry, and Rendell stepped up to score.

Further opportunities fell the way of the Hatters but Fleetwood nor Lawless could capitalise.

The Hatters are back on the road next weekend when they face Lincoln City.
