Luton 2 Braintree 3

Luton 2 Braintree 3

Well that wasn`t on the cards was it?

Braintree Town arrived at Kenilworth Road not having won for seven games and Luton were supposed to extend a winning run of three games to four.

In fact the little run of fixtures we`re currently in were supposed to cement our position as leading candidates for promotion.

Well we all know what can happen to best laid plans don`t we!

Off course, Luton were hampered by the red card our top scorer, Stuart Fleetwood, received for picking up two yellow cards in the first half, but that shouldn`t be used as an excuse, we should be beating teams like Braintree.

So what about the goals?

Well Braintree raced into a two goal lead courtesy of a curling shot from Dan Holman before Sean Marks raced onto a long ball, from Sam Habergham, to beat Tyler.

In between those strikes we did, of course, lose Fleetwood.

But Luton did battle back into the match with a header from on-loan Simon Ainge reducing the arrears before Dan Walker leveled with a low shot.

But midway through the half Matt Paine rose to meet a corner from Daniel Sparkes and those valuable three points had slipped away leaving the majority of the 5,523 inside Kenilworth Road to leave the ground bitterly disappointed.
