Norwich City 0 Luton Town 1

The Hatters are in the fifth round proper of the FA Cup after beating Premier League side, Norwich City, at Carrow Road.

A goal from Scott Rendell, eleven minutes from time, was sufficient to send 4,000 travelling Hatters fans delirious.

Before the game there were 85 places between these two sides in the league ladder but the capacity crowd of 26,500 would have, for most the match, been unable to distinguish which was the Premier League side.

There may not have been no goals in the first half but Luton befuddled their opponents by employing a high line and forcing Norwich into playing across and back and hoisting long balls forward.

In fact Norwich didn`t muster a shot until just before the half hour mark when Elliot Bennett tested Mark Tyler who was returning t the club that dispensed with his services when he was just fifteen years old.

The half finished with a flurry of action, Norwich could have taken the lead when Alex Lawless was forced to clear an effort, from Leon Barnett, off the line.

Chris Hughton introduced Grant Holt, in place of Harry Kane, at half time and Norwich started better. Holt could have opened the scoring but his far post header was well dealt with by Tyler.

As the half progressed you just felt the improbable could happen and when, in the seventy-ninth minute, JJ O`Donnell, on off the bench, slipped in a lovely cross, another substitute in Scott Rendell was on hand to stick the ball in.

With eleven minutes left Luton had to hang on and they did, despite some nervy moments in the three minutes of stoppage time, to become only the seventh team since World War Two, from non-league to reach the fifth round and he first since 1986.
