Now whether it was the shock of the sudden departure of Paul Buckle that saw Luton struggle to win on the road again is a debatable subject.

Nevertheless, the draw up at Moss Rose, against Macclesfield, has left Luton with an enormous mountain to climb if the promotion dream is to be satisfied this season.

In fact, whoever takes over from Buckle, on a permanent basis, could be facing an uphill struggle to even make the play-offs, such is the situation we now find ourselves in.

On reflection, Luton had, and should have capitalized on a golden chance to take all the three points on off the other night. Having taken an early lead, in the fifteenth minute when Andre Gray netted after the Macclesfield keeper, Rhys Taylor, could only parry Jon Shaw`s shot, the scene was set for a Hatters away win.

Even more so when Taylor, having conceded that early goal; was shown a red card by the referee after the keeper had fouled Gray and Macclesfield had no recognized keeper on the bench. That strategy saw the home side forced the home side to play seventy minutes with a midfielder, Winn, in goal.

But, as is often the case in these situations, Winn became something of a hero and produced saves from Jake Howells and Andre Gray.

Macclesfield slowly worked their way back into the game and with fourteen minutes left were on level terms when Waide Fairhurst saw his shot go in off the post. Luton still had time to win the game though and could have but for that man Winn who produced another good stop to deny Stuart Fleetwood.

Like I said, the in-coming manager may be facing an up-hill struggle just to get us in the play-offs, such is our form in recent months, on the road.
