A Confidence Thing

As Luton prepare to engage Stockport County in a Conference Premier fixture, at Edgeley Park, it`s fair to say anything less than a win would be seen as a failure.

Already languishing a massive 14 points off of the play-off places, we`re realistic to accept that anything less than a win today will leave us chasing shadows.

But, and this is a big but, if we can string a few wins together the momentum generated could see us plunge back into the race.

It`s fair to say that following a run whereby we`ve lost 6 games out of the last 8, in all competitions, confidence amongst the squad is very low.

Talking about rectifying that situation, Stuart Fleetwood ahead of the Stockport fixture, has remarked to the local media,

"Confidence is a big part of it. I don`t think enough of us are on our game, myself included, I don`t put myself out of that at all."

"The new manager is in now, and we`re going to see who we wants to play in training."

"We know how close it is and if we can put a run of results together we`ll be back in there."

"That`s our main aim. We know that we need to be in the play-offs this year and if we fall outside that we know it`s very poor from us and we only have ourselves to blame."

"We`re under no illusions that`s our aim and we`ve got to keep going."

"I don`t think (poor form) is just away from home, I think it`s home as well."

"Once you get in that rut it can be difficult to get out of. If you could put your finger on it then it would be easy to stop and there would be a miracle cure for it."

"We need to turn it around quickly. We`ve definitely got the players here. We just need to have it out with each other, have a chat with each other, get on the same page and start playing as a team."

Start playing as a team that justifies the talent we have in the squad may I add.
