Adjusting the Business Model

Some interesting comments have appeared, comments attributed to our managing director Gary Sweet.

Sweet has admitted, quite openly, that he is still learning the ropes when it comes to running a football club and that running Luton Town is quite a bit different from running what you might deem as a normal business.

Our MD admits that chasing instant success, or using the microwave principal; might not have been the best policy and that, in hindsight a steadier approach might have been more sensible, perhaps, as Sweet names it, the bake principal.

Speaking to the local media, Sweet has commented about his approach,

"Yes I suppose there`s been a change, not necessarily a conscious one, but a conscious realisation of the fact that maybe what we should have done three years ago, four years ago, is to tell people this is going to be a four-year project."

"It won`t take that long this time around. What we have to do is just take our foot off the accelerator a little bit."

"We can`t microwave it we`ve got to bake it."

"I`ve had four-and-a-half years in football now, five years including the administration."

"So we are learning about it. Even in three years times we`ll probably behave differently because we`re still learning."
