Words from a song that was probably more my parents era than mine!
But words that are very apt when it comes to our football club and its new manager.
It would appear that our successful FA Cup and FA Trophy runs;, runs that have resulted in a fixture backlog, have been a bit of a hindrance when it comes to John Still getting acclimatised with the squad he inherited.
There`s no better way of getting to know your charges than on the training ground, but the fixture pile-up has resulted in John having to learn about his players during the match scenario, prompting John to remark in his post-match comments, following the 1-1draw with Hereford, at Kenilworth Road,
"I keep on saying it but it is true. We are on a learning curve and it will take time to gel properly."
"I do not see this as a point gained or point lost. I just see it as seeing a bit more of what the players are capable of and building on characteristics we will need in the future such as perseverance and we showed we have that today."
I guess the drive for promotion for the 2013/2014 season has already started in earnest!
