It`s Not Supposed to Work Like That!

Forgive me if I`ve not managed to grasp this one correctly!

But when you send a player out on loan is it not with the intention of allowing the said player to get some much needed match practice?

If that is the case then can someone please explain to me why we loaned out Wayne Thomas only for the centre back to sit on Rochdale`s bench for the last four games?
