Luton 2 Newport County 2
With the fixtures coming thick and fast and with another one coming this Thursday, Luton Town, last night, provided a glimpse of what might lie ahead next season under John Still.
For the second consecutive home game on the trot, both against promotion chasing teams, we showed that we can match them and, as against Grimsby, we were lucky not to take all three points.
With 5,125 inside Kenilworth Road, Still opted to play the same starting eleven that had performed admirably against Grimsby at the weekend. With just twelve minute splayed Luton were in the lead when Andre Gray scored from inside the box.
The Hatters were to hold the lead until seven minutes into the second half when Newport County, under the tutorship of the former Spurs defender Justin Edinburgh, equalized through a player that Luton, if I recall correctly, had been interested in, Christian Jolly.
Still shuffled his pack just ast the hour mark, bringing on Wall and Howells for Shaw and Lawless respectively and the Hatters edged ahead with just eleven minutes to go through that man Andre Gray again.
But any thoughts of a victory were banished just six minutes from time when Christian Jolley leveled the game up.
All in all a pretty decent game and although this plethora of home games is denting my finances, I`ll be there on Thursday when Ebsfleet visit, will you?
