New TV Deal Looms

New TV Deal Looms

Sponsorship is the life blood of the modern game for many lower league clubs and every penny really can count.

Therefore, with the new season approaching the Conference are searching for a new television deal with the old deal with Premier Sports having expired.

From listening to the words of Gary Sweet, our managing director, it would appear that British Telecom are the firm favourites to show Conference football next season.

Sweet, discussing the subject, is quoted as having remarked,

"We are very, very close now to signing up with British Telecom."

"Negotiations are still on-going but that is very close to being concluded."

The new channel, already having secured some Premier League fixtures, will be hoping to make an instant impression; hopefully, if the deal goes through then Luton will feature on a regular basis.

As long as we are not as embarrassing as we have been on Premier Sports will be looking forward to the coverage when I cant get to games. Now just waiting for BT to confirm this and will then sign up. COYH

the adverts BT have been showing to promote their new channel suggest the coverage could be quite slick! As a neutral, I'm assuming one of those bad performances was the Grimsby away game, a fixture I saw in a local bar!

Successive Defeats No Problem For Jones

Luton's defeat to Stevenage on Saturday was followed up by the League Cup exit to Leeds on Tuesday. Jones is of course disappointed by these defeats but not panicking.

Jones - Outstanding From Start To Finish

Jones went into the League Cup match with Leeds of the opinion Luton had a genuine chance of knocking the Championship side out as the Hatters had Aston Villa in round two.

Sitting One Out?

Ahead of the Leeds match tonight Jones has admitted he could look to give Marriott a break as last seasons top goalscorer hasn't scored since the season opener against Plymouth.
