'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Luton 0 Woking 1

That wasn`t in the script was it?

A crowd of 6,683 turned up at Kenilworth Road last night, with thousands more watching live on BT Sport.

It was anticipated that Luton, the runaway leaders of the Skrill Premier, would put on another decent performance, put Woking to the sword and extend both their long unbeaten run and extend the lead at the top of the table.

Unfortunately, Woking had other ideas.

Our visitors, to be brutally honest, bossed the game and could have scored well before they did in the 87th minute.

Woking with two former Luton players in their ranks, in Adam Newton and Scott Rendell, stared well and never let Luton really get into the game.

Early on Josh Payne, in particular, looked very lively, forcing Mark Tyler to turn around the post one long range shot and then, minutes later, crashing a 25 yard shot against the angle of bar and post.

Luton tried to rally but that spark was missing and as the clock began to run down, it looked like it`d be our third successive draw, although shots from both Howells and Lawless had rattled the post, the closest Luton came to scoring.

However, having come on in the 85th minute, Giuseppe Sole had other ideas. After being on the pitch for just two minutes, Sole headed home the loose ball after Murtagh`s header had hit the bar.

There was little time to recover and Woking of all teams had ended that long unbeaten run and inflicted our first home defeat of the year.
