Luton Sell Edwards
Luton Town have announced that Carlos Edwards has joined Sunderland for £1.4 million.
Edwards, whose speed and trickery earned him a place in Trinidad and Tobago's World Cup team, joined Luton on a free transfer in the summer of 2005 and showed tremendous form for the Hatters in their first year in the championship.
Luton were said to have turned down £1.5 million from Watford in the last transfer window so it is somewhat surprising, bearing in mind that Premiership clubs were said to have been interested in his services, that he has joined another Championship club for less than Watford had already offered.
Perhaps his recent lack of form has dininished his value, but it is to be hoped that Mike Newell will be given most if not all of this windfall to bring in some badly needed players to boost the club's bid to remain in the Championship.
