It`ll Start as a Clean Slate Tonight

When Luton and Carlisle United met at Kenilworth Road, back in December, the 1-1 draw was over-shadowed by an incident involving the Carlisle defender Michael Raynes and our very own Danny Hylton.

Raynes was shown a straight red-card, by the referee, for an alleged elbow on our top-scorer.

In the immediate aftermath of the final whistle, Nathan Jones labelled the challenge as "cowardly", however the Carlisle manager, Keith Curle, was far from pleased at Jones description.

Matters weren`t helped when, on appeal, the red-card was rescinded.

However, as the two teams prepare to meet again tonight, in a League Two fixture at Burnden Park, Jones doesn`t expect any of the December ill-feeling to be carried over remarking to the local media when questioned about such a possibility,

"No, I don`t think so. There wasn`t any bad feeling. We felt something had happened, they didn`t, they appealed it and it got rescinded, no problem.

"I was surprised at that decision, but I know Keith, I know his staff there and I know Danny and Raynes are friends. They played together at Rotherham, I know they`ve talked since.

"So no, I don`t think there`s any bad feeling whatsoever. We`ve had incidents with teams that after the game have been a problem, but you can`t dwell on it.

"A lot worse used to happen back in the day, so it`s nothing."

Let`s hope so although we`re pretty sure the Cumbrian crowd will be relentless in hurling abuse at Danny, as is often the case when the Hatters are on the road.
