Two dropped points on Good Friday allied with two dropped points on Easter Monday, have contrived to make it a miserable holiday period for the Hatters.

Taking two points out of the six available means that Luton Town cannot achieve automatic promotion and must go through the play-offs, although some might say that getting promoted on the biggest stage of all, Wembley, is something to look forward to.

After drawing 2-2, with relegation threatened Leyton Orient, on Good Friday, Luton travelled to Mansfield looking to get a win that might give them some leeway over the other clubs vying for a promotion play-off place, but it wasn`t to be.

Mansfield Town took the lead in a first-half of few chances, with Alfie Potter scoring his first goal for Mansfield. The goal came after a move involving George Taft and Mal Benning which saw Potter`s first shot blocked but he made no mistake with the second.

Immediately prior to the goal Danny Hylton had kept the score at 0-0 by clearing a Krystian Pearce header off the line.

Trailing at half time, the Hatters levelled six early in the second half when Taft was adjudged to have handled the ball as Hylton flicked the ball past him. Hylton stepped up to make no mistake from the penalty spot, scoring his 26th goal of the season.

Hylton could have won the game for the Hatters but two headed chances, in the 66th and 88th minute sailed wide, leaving the Hatters with it all to play for as they seek to seal a play-off place.
