Hatters - No Room for Error

Hatters - No Room for Error

The Hatters support will enter the play-offs with a lit bit of trepidation.

After all, in the last twenty years Luton have failed not once, not twice, not three times but four times to navigate successfully through the play-offs.

But that dismal record doesn`t faze Nathan Jones who when broached on the subject by the local media, remarked,

'The old Luton record has nothing to do with me.

'My play-off record's quite good. I've been in three and been promoted in two, so I'm happy with that.'

Jones, when it comes to the play-offs, last tasted success when, at the Millennium Stadium he was part of the Brighton set-up that beat Bristol City.

But Jones, aware of the fact the Hatters failed in the play-offs against Crewe (1997), York (2010), AFC Wimbledon (201) and York (2012), wants his memories to guide Luton to success, further remarking,

'It's a new group of players with a new group of goals. If the fans get behind us, and we perform, we've got a great chance.

'I can't affect history - I can affect the present.'

Luton enter the play-offs having finished in fourth place in League Two, but play-off success doesn`t naturally follow for the team that finished just below those who were automatically promoted, prompting Jones to further add,

'We're delighted to have finished where we have. That's a big statement from us.

'But the play-offs are a lottery. We saw in the League One games, Scunthorpe finished third but lost at home 3-2 to a really strong Millwall side, so we have to be wary of things like that.

'The league table tells us we're the fourth best side so we have to prove that.'

We do and we have to be ruthless in our attitude, our play and our finishing, there is no room for error.
