Luton fail to strengthen

Luton Town have taken the unprecedented step of announcing that they have failed to bring in any new faces on deadline day.

The statement is somewhat ambiguous as it says that they had two bids of £500K turned down along with another for £250K. It then states that: 'One of the players, currently playing in the Championship, chose to stay at his club, the second player declined the offer and the third player rather disappointingly failed his medical late this evening.'

It is very disappointing that several siutable players in positions that Luton were in desperate need of strengthening, have made moves to our rival teams in the Championship, but in 31 days the club has failed to bring in cover for these positions.

It is to be hoped that some of our longterm injury victims can rally round very quickly and that Bjorn Runstrom is another Rory Allen, or Luton will be in League 1 next season.

The announcement also states that Markus Heikkinen will resume full training this week and will hopefully be in contention for the Leicester match along with the aforementioned Mr Runstrom.

This news leaves the only avenue open for Newell to strengthen the side being the loan system.
