Luton Trio In Team Of The Week (8/8/17)

Luton Trio In Team Of The Week (8/8/17)

Luton Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performances by Andrew Shinnie, James Collins and manager Nathan Jones in the eight two victory over Yeovil Town at the weekend at Kenilworth Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

Explaining the choice - the EFL blurb read.

Shinnie:

'Luton ran riot against Yeovil Town with a stunning 8-2 victory in the first game of the season, and Shinnie was one of the many stars of the show at Kenilworth Road. The midfielder on loan from Birmingham excelled in the Hatters` midfield, laying on four goals in the rout.'

Collins:

'Another happy Hatter in our Team of the Week, Collins was the other player to net an opening-weekend treble. The striker scored 22 goals for Crawley last term, and he brought that form with him to his new club with three well-taken strikes in the hammering of Yeovil Town.'

Jones:

'Plenty of contenders for this honour on the opening day, but it has to go Nathan Jones — completing a hat-trick of Luton appearances in 2017/18`s first Team of the Week. The Hatters boss got six of his eight summer signings involved against Yeovil, with three getting on the scoresheet and new goalkeeper Marek Stech saving a penalty in a stunning start to the campaign.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to all three for his recognition.

Full Team:

Mark Gillespie (Walsall), Willy Boly (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Jack O'Connell (Sheffield United), Patrick Bauer (Charlton Athletic), Jodi Jones (Coventry City), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds United), Andrew Shinnie (Luton Town), Garry Thompson (Morecambe), Bobby Reid (Bristol City), James Collins (Luton Town), Conor McAleny (Fleetwood Town).

Manager - Nathan Jones (Luton Town).
