Luton Town 1 Chesterfield 0

Luton Town 1 Chesterfield 0

After a stop / start beginning to the season Luton Town now appear to be finding some momentum.

Against Chesterfield, a side still looking to appoint a permanent manager, the Hatters made it three wins on the bounce and moved into that third automatic place available, however, we do accept that it is early days and that there are a plethora of games still to be played.

The action, down at Kenilworth Road, saw both sides go close. A cross from Jack Stacey was headed over by Danny Hylton whilst Luke Gambin missed a chance to open the scoring by shooting narrowly wide when presented with a chance.

Stech was forced into a fine save, to keep the score 0-0, when he needed to use his legs to keep out a shot from Andy Kellet.

The Hatters should have gone ahead on the stroke of half-time but Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu headed wide from close range.

Luton Town finally went ahead in the fifty-third minute when Danny Hylton was put through courtesy of a ball from Jordon Cook, Hylton cut inside before shooting beyond Joe Anyon in the Chesterfield goal.

Further chances fell the way of both sides, Louis Reed missed a chance to equalise, heading wide whilst Luton, courtesy of Hylton hitting the side-netting, Collins heading straight at the keeper and Cook sending an effort over the bar, missed three chances to put the match to bed.

With thirteen minutes left to be played, Mpanzu was shown a straight red-card for a high challenge on Kellet but being down to ten-men didn`t affect the Hatters too much, in fact the game should have been wrapped up but Cornick hit the post and Collins missed two more chances late on.

COYH`s.
