Luton 1 Notts County 1

In a top versus second clash at Kenilworth Road, in front of a crowd of in excess of 10,000, Luton and Notts County shared the honours in an entertaining draw.

With the atmosphere inside the quaint old stadium the best its been so far this season it was Notts County who got off to the better start.

County wen close early on when Marek Stech was forced to tip a header from Ryan Yates over the crossbar. Stech was then kept busy when he had to produce another smart save to deny Jon Sead.

But, against the run of play Luton took the lead in the 26th minute. The Hatters won a corner and Johnny Mullins was on hand to head home the cross from Alan Sheehan at the far post for his first goal for Luton Town.

County pushed for an equaliser but Stech once again showed his class to prevent Jorge Grant from getting on the score-sheet.

The second half started with Luton making the first chance when Danny Hylton saw a shot blocked, but County weren`t slow in coming forward and had further chances to equalise through Grant and Yates.

Just past the hour-mark, County were level though when a free-kick from Grant was met by the head of Shola Ameobi.

Both sides went looking for the winner, Hylton had a chance but headed over whilst Glen Rea somehow managed to lift an effort over the bar from close-range. Down the other end Lewis Alessandra fired over from just outside the box.

Mullins, having scored his first goal for the Hatters, almost covered himself in glory late on with an effort from close-range but the County keeper, Ross Fitzsimons pulled off a good save.

The result keeps Luton on top of the League Two table, ahead of Notts County on goal difference.
