EFL Winning Goals Of November - 2017

EFL Winning Goals Of November - 2017

The EFL have now released the winners of the November Goal of the Month competition for the Championship, League One and League Two.

November gave plenty of strikes to consider but the EFL have now picked each of the division winners from the past month.

The winners of the EFL Goals of the Month are chosen by a fan poll on Skysports.com and the shortlist for the poll is decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter.

The judging panel is made up of Sky Sports' EFL expert Don Goodman, Sky Bet Sponsorship Manager David Tweed and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.

November's winners are as follows:

Championship:

Adam Reach: Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa - 4th November

'Sheffield Wednesday's Adam Reach is the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month winner for November, receiving 55% of the public vote. Only 18 seconds had elapsed when Reach strode forward into space and judged his approach to a bouncing ball and his left-foot strike to perfection.'

Don Goodman explained.

'Often at the start of these big fixtures, it can be quite cagey and goals can be hard to come by. But Adam Reach made a mockery of that logic, producing an incredible strike after just 18 seconds. The goal itself is a wonderful strike, the technique is perfect as he cuts across the ball to deliberately produce slice, which takes it out of the reach of Johnstone in the Aston Villa net.'

Reach added.

'I`m delighted to win it, it`s the first time I`ve won a personal EFL award and I`m happy that it came in a victory for Sheffield Wednesday. It was one of them where you dream of striking a ball like that; it just dropped and I never broke stride, didn`t really have time to think about what I wanted to do, I just hit it. Thankfully I`ve caught it sweet and it went top corner. Being at Villa Park against a strong side and going ahead so early allowed us to really dominate the game and play at our own tempo, and it gave us all a lift early on.'

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Barry Douglas and Cardiff City's Danny Ward completed the Championship shortlist.

League One:

Josh Morris: Scunthorpe United v Charlton Athletic - 25th November

'Scunthorpe United winger Josh Morris is the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month winner for October, receiving 47% of the public vote. If Morris` turn away from Charlton defenders was exquisite, the ability to bend his right-foot shot into the far top corner in the final moments of its trajectory was other-worldly.'

Don Goodman explained.

'Josh Morris has been one of the standout performers in the league for a couple of seasons, and seems to be capable of ever-increasingly brilliant pieces of skill. Morris produced an unstoppable free kick from 25 yards just minutes before, but this goal was the pick of two sublime efforts. To be able to produce a strike with curl, pace and accuracy like that with your so called 'weaker` foot is outstanding.'

Morris added.

'It`s a massive honour, there were three great goals nominated so thanks to everyone who voted, everyone behind the scenes at the club and it`s a big thing for me to have. I got passed the ball with a man quite close to me but I managed to get away with a turn and it opened up for me to hit it with my right foot, so I thought 'why not?` and hit it really well and it went in the top corner. I don`t think I had many other options, it was either shoot or get tackled, and I`d just scored a couple of minutes previously so my confidence was high, and thank God it went in.'

Oldham Athletic's Eoin Doyle and Walsall's Erhun Oztumer completed the League One shortlist.

League Two:

Olly Lee: Luton Town v Cambridge United - 18th November

'Luton Town midfielder Olly Lee is the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month winner for November, receiving 47% of the public vote. Biting into a tackle, Lee sized up his opportunity instantly and sent an unforgettable, unerring shot into the net from 60 yards out.'

Don Goodman explained.

'Olly must have seen the keeper way off of his line before he even won possession well inside his own half, as there was only one thought on his mind. It`s one thing spotting an opportunity, but quite another to be able to hit a ball so well from that distance that the keeper was beaten all ends up and didn`t even get a chance to put a dive in.'

Lee added.

'I`m delighted with it, it`s great to get a bit of personal recognition but the main thing is the team doing well and hopefully we can stay top of the league. I just nicked the ball in midfield and looked up and saw the keeper off his line and thought why not. It was just instinct, I looked up and the keeper seemed to be closer to me than the goal. I`ve scored a few good ones but that`s definitely the best. Wayne Rooney`s wasn`t bad but mine was a little bit further out so hopefully I can take that one.'

Chesterfield's Jak McCourt and Carlisle United's Danny Grainger completed League Two shortlist.
