The Hatters grip on top position in League Two was strengthened with an away win against Forest Green Rovers.

With Notts County only managing to draw at home to Grimsby Town, the Hatters now have a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Luton were expected to beat struggling Forest Green Rovers and that is exactly what they did, although they had to do it with 10-men after Jack Stacey received a straight red-card, for a high boot on the hour mark.

The Hatters kept the travelling support waiting until deep into first-half stoppage time for the opening goal with Alan Sheehan and Danny Hylton working a short corner routine that saw Sheehan fire a low shot across the goal and into that net.

Earlier in the first-half, Luton had survived a period of pressure from the home side whereby Marek Stech was forced into a fine save to deny, first Jordan Stevens and then Christian Doidge.

But, after weathering the storm the Hatters forced the issue and Dan Potts and Elliott Lee both went close.

Emerging for the second-half leading 1-0, Stech had to, once again, pull off a fine save to deny Doidge before Stacey took the long walk after the referee decided his high boot was worthy of a straight red-card.

The goal that sealed Luton`s win was of a comical nature, Collins, trying to pass the ball back to the goalkeeper slipped, leaving Hylton with the easiest of chances to double the lead.

Despite being a man short the Hatters could have increased their lead with Harry Cornick firing wide from a good position.

A late rally by the home side saw Stech produce saves from Toni Gomez and Charlie Cooper but the final whistle saw the Hatters and their contingent of away fans celebrating a sixth game without defeat.

These are good times for Luton Town
