According to Luton Today, the Harpenden-based racing driver and entrepreneur, David Pinkney, 49, is to take over Luton Town FC by buying a controlling interest in the club.
It is thought his appointment will also include additional investment.
Pinkney has been in discussions with the club for some time and was today at Kenilworth Road dicussing the terms.
Luton Town are said to be now ready to hold a press conference to announce the fact.
Pinkney told Luton Today website:
'I know this will be a long term thing. We need to draw a line in the sand and move forwards from what's been happening.
'We will start with a clean slate. We have a five year plan to get a new stadium and get into the Premiership and that is my aim.'
Pinkney, a long standing Hatters fan, fully backed the appointment of Kevin Blackwell as manager.
