Parkin working hard

Sam Parkin has been undergoing a gruelling training regime to regain fitness after his operation to remove the pinsin his ankle.

He said on www.lutontown.co.uk:

'The aim is to join in with the lads when we all report back for pre-season.'

'Myself and the medical team have been really pleased with the way things have been progressing but I want to be working hard during the next few weeks, making sure I can do all I can to keep myself fit.

'I'm taking each day as it comes and playing it by ear at the moment; even if pre-season started tomorrow, I think there will be something I could do now, so that is a big thing for me.

'I have been out kicking a ball again and the hunger is there. We are very confident that in a month's time I will be able to join in fully with the lads and be ready for selection for our pre-season schedule.'

Sam is looking forward to meetine newly promoted Swindon Town next season and went on:

'It is the one game I will be looking out for because I still have a lot of friends there. It's a shame that I will be playing them back in League One, but I don't think the manager is intending to stay around in this division for long.

'It will be nice to play against a former club and probably get a decent reception. Playing for Swindon was a great part of my career, so I can't wait to go back.

'I am looking ahead to next season with optimism. I want to get my career back on track and get people talking about me like they did a few years ago.

'Hopefully I can be the one who will score the goals next season and we can have a successful season.'

We all hope so, Sam - we all hope so!
