Underwood to be fit soon?

Paul Underwood is set to recover from his serious infection which kept him sidelined for over a season, and saw his weight plummet to desperate proportions.

While having an operation to repair a broken arm, in a private hospital, it is believed he contracted an infection which was MRSA or something very similar, and at one point, the player was genuinely worried for his life.

Such infections are indeed life threatening and take a very long time to recover from for those who survive them.

My information is that he has now recovered and should be fit for the pre-season having restored his normal weight and begun training.

There was conjecture that he might have made it for the last couple of games for this season but there was little point in risking him in a lost cause.

A fit Underwood and a fit Parkin and Boyd would probably have been enough to have kept us in the Championship but to have them fit for League one should be a good base for rebuilding in an attempt to bounce straight back, (subject to FA punishment for the financial irregularities should it involve relegation or points deductions!)
