Luton keeper suspended
Whichever division Luton find themselves in next season, they will be without Marlon Beresford for the first three matches after he was handed a suspension by the FA relating to his making gestures at the home fans when Luton played at Home Park Plymouth on April 17th 2006!
The FA did not deal with it at the time as Marlon was charged with a public order offence by the Police.
The matter has now been dealt with by the courts and the FA have added their ten pennyworth 13 months after the event!
Marlon had denied the offence when first charged, (a breach of FA Rule E3 â€" abusive and/or insulting words towards Club Stewards and/or Supporters of Plymouth Argyle FC)
The charge was found proved in Beresford's absence and he was handed the three match suspension commencing start of 2007/08 season, and also fined £500.
Marlon was quoted as saying that he thought the charge had gone away as it was so long ago and he is very disappointed that the FA have seen fit to resurrect it now.
