Luton eye Hutchinson

Former Liverpool, Everton and West Ham player Don Hutchison is currently training with Luton after his release by Coventry City.

Luton News reports that Kevin Blackwell is looking at a number of players and Hutchinsion, 36, is one of them.

The manager told The Luton News: 'Don is here training with us and we're having a look at whether we can do anything with him.

'But to be honest, since we announced the latest signings last week, the interest in Luton Town has gone through the roof.

'I've had people phoning me and agents calling me offering me some very good players, which is what I want. People are now beginning to realise we're serious about what we're doing here.'

Blackwell is still waiting on a response after a bid was made for a 'big, experienced striker', whose identity has not been revealed.

The first team squad is in Cyprus training, and triallists Daryl Fordyce and Martin Brittain are included along with a winger from Malaga.

Sol Davis and Paul Underwood missed the trip through injury and Darren Currie, Paul Furlong, Chris Perry and Paul Peschisolido, remained at Luton to 'catch up with pre-sesaon training'.

Meanwhile, Sol Davis confirmed to the newspaper that it was his own decision to be placed on the transfer list, which he announced to Blackwell on his return from the summer break.
