Luton confirm signing

Paul Peschisolido has become Luton's sixth signing of the summer, after signing a one-year contract.

His willingness to drop to League 1 seems predicated on his previous connections with Kevin Blackwell when he was assistant manager to Neil Warnock at Sheffield United.

The Canadian-born striker was released by Derby County after he played a part in their promotion to the Premiership, including the play-off final against his former club West Bromwich Albion.

At 36, Peschisolido has made over 500 appearances in league football,scoring 136 times.

Former clubs include Toronto Blizzards, Birmingham City ( £25K), Stoke City ( £400K), Birmingham again (I wonder if the lure of Karen Brady helped?), West Bromwich Albion ( £600K), Fulham ( £1.1 million),then after a series of loan deals at QPR, Norwich and Sheffield United, he made the Blades move permanent in a £250K move.

He joined Derby County in 2004,in a swap deal which allowed Izale McCleod to move to the Blades on a season's loan, where Peschisolido mainly played a 'supersub' role scoring at a rate of 1 every 4 games mainly coming off the bench.

He joins a group of 4 other 'Dad's Army' veterans at Kenilworth Road, all of whom should prove invaluable in this division by quality and experience, and the look of the squad is superior to the one with which we ended last season.
