Luton have announced the appointment of Bob Curson as Youth Development Director.
He will become part of the 'advisory board' at Kenilworth Road.
Bob is described as a local businessman and the (obligatory) lifelong Luton Fan!
He worked for SKF for many years, then V.S. Engineering before establishing global automation business, Comau Estil.
Lutontown.co.uk disclosed that he is excited at the prospect of his new role:
"This is an exciting project for me.It's not just coming to work for Luton Town, but it's also about coming to work for the community.
"I know from the past we have actually produced a lot of good youngsters, but there have been a lot more that have escaped the net and I feel that I can help in that way.
"There are lots of kids out in the surrounding areas of Luton that don't get
he opportunity.
"Hopefully I can come in and it will help us scour every area around the town to find those people and give them the opportunity that they may not have had if we had not set this system up."
Curson will work closely with Youth Development Director, Chris Cummings and Luton Town plan to set up football coaching schools for local teams.
"I am a good communicator." Curson continued. "I am good with people and I think time will tell if the job is successful or not. However, I feel I can put a lot into it. I have got a lot of experience.
"What we will be looking to do is get the managers of these Sunday League teams together and once we can do that then we can spread the gospel across the area.
"If you make other people responsible in various areas then you are using their eyes. I will not be looking at everybody. The idea is that we may set up a committee of local people and they will be looking at their youngsters."
Kevin Blackwell told the official website:
"Bob brings a lot of credibility to the position. His knowledge and his enthusiasm are infectious and his management skills are vital for this role and what we are looking for.
"It is important that we have a connection with the Board and that they understand what is happening at Youth Team level.
"Luton need a major a representative at this level. We need someone who will go to FA meetings about Youth and I am sure Bob will make a big impact"
