I am sad to report that a former Hatters hero Terry Kelly, has passed away at the age of 75.
Luton born Terry joined the Town in 1950 having played for Vauxhall Motors, and took up his professional career after two years National Service.
A tall, commanding centre-half, Terry would have played more games for the Hatters were it not for the fact that Syd Owen was at the height of his career and Terry could not gain an automatic place until Syd retired.
Terry soon became a regular first teamer himself once he took up Syd's place in the 1959-60 season, making 150 starts in the days before substitutes.
I remember watching him play and he was a no nonsense hard tackling player, and we could do with his like in the side today.
Terry still lived in Luton up to the time of his passing. Thanks for some great memories Terry.
