Another £500K bid?

Luton Town's official website states that Mike Newell is still hopeful of bringing in new faces. However, he is quoted as saying 'There are still a couple of options available to us. It might happen that we get a new player, but if it doesn't then we won't be worried.

We have a policy at this club where we don't make things public until they are official and that is the way it should be done. I don't know if any other club has made it public but we have had a number of offers refused by clubs in lower divisions and that is the way we will leave it."

He went on to say, 'We have had no phone calls at all concerning any of our players. It does surprise me a little because I know the quality we have in the side. I have no doubt that we have got players here who can play at a higher level.'

Luton have been linked by various sources with Neil Danns of Colchester United, Adam Boyd of Hartlepool and more recently Michael Reddy of Grimsby Town.

Sky Sports website reports that Luton have made a £500000 bid for Adam Boyd, despite Manager Martin Scott's insistance that he does not want to sell the striker.

However, The Mariners'boss Russell Slade has said he is fed up of having to respond to speculation about his leading scorer Michael Reddy's future.

Of Luton's alleged interest in the player, he said that the suggestion was utter nonsense.

Slade said, 'To be honest I am sick of all the speculation and having to stress that Michael is staying.

This is his first full season without injury for us and we have been delighted with his progress. Inevitably his good form will attract interest but we have had no offers for him during the transfer window.

There is all sorts of speculation but 9/10ths of it is absolute nonsense.

We have a good relationship with the management at Luton and have heard nothing from them.

As far as I am concerned, Michael is going nowhere.'
