Boyd bid rejected
According to Sky Sports Hartlepool have rejected Luton's £500000 offer for striker Adam Boyd. Whether they are trying to up the ante or genuinely want to keep the player remains to be seen.
Boyd is in Hartlepool reserves squad for this afternoon's match at Rotherham, so he is quite handily placed to sign should Luton increase their offer or Hartlepool have a change of heart.
Mike Newell has been quoted as saying that he has other irons in the fire, but will not be worried if he does not acquire any new faces by the midnight deadline, so watch this space!

Boyd is a great player. 500k is a bit modest for a player that Newell is quoted as saying he's the best in League 1.

When I think about it, I actually think that the only reason Newell offered 500k is so that he can take advantage of the effect his injuries has had on his transfer price and then sell him on for a handsome profit. All Boyd needs is to learn how to sprint and he'd be a Premiership player.
