Contract talks ongoing
In the wake of his decision to remain at Luton despite Leicester City's attempt to lure him to The Walker Stadium, Mike Newell has revealed that contract talks have been under way for two months, well before the Foxes' interest began.
'We have been discussing a three-and-a-half-year extension to my Luton contract since early last December.' He said.
'These things take time, but there is no rush. I'm committed, I want to stay and I see no problem in signing the deal.'
It appears that developments on the stadium and facilities front, together with news of more financial investment in the club have been significant in his reaching the decision to stay.
He went on to say,'I would like to be part of a move to a new stadium and new training facilities.
I told the players of my decision to stay on Thursday morning, they were the first to know. I just had a feeling that staying was the right thing to do.'
