Leeds United vs. Luton Town

Elland Road

25th February 2006

3 pm

Leeds Utd V Luton Town

So a few seasons ago Leeds were fighting it out in the Champions' League semi finals and we were down in league 2, surely these two sides a few years later wouldn't be meeting in the league?

Well, tomorrow the two sides meet in one of the most awaited away games of the season at Elland Road.

Leeds have their sights set on returning to the top flight of English football where they feel they belong, although, the way it looks, they may have to settle for a place in the lottery which is the play offs.

Luton, on the other hand, are looking to keep alive our hopes of the play offs after the amazing 3-2 victory over runaway leaders Reading, at Kenilworth Road in front of the sky cameras last Friday.

Vital Quotes:

Brian Stein from Luton official site

'The injury situation is never ending. Nico got injured on Tuesday. He came in feeling great and was running about like a 10-year-old and then all of a sudden he felt his hamstring.

'He's a major doubt, but he will be on the coach tomorrow and we'll see how he is.

'The good news is that Unders came through the reserve game OK as did Holmesy, and Russell Perrett had a full game. The injuries are gradually clearing, and we don't make a song and dance about it.

'We only had 14 fit outfield players the other night, but everyone gets injuries and you just have to get on with it.'

Kevin Blackwell from Leeds official site

Seems to be another not to give manager quotes on site!

Leeds United Team News:

Leeds are without Shaun Derry, who completes a two-game suspension, while Frazer Richardson (hamstring) and Matt Kilgallon (knee) are still out.

Richard Cresswell is out for the season after knee surgery, but Eirik Bakke should retain his place.

Also of note is Gary Kelly making his 500th appearance for Leeds United, an amazing feat in modern day football.

Player to watch: Robbie Blake

Powerful influence in opponents' penalty areas.

Luton Town Team News:

Luton hope to welcome back utility man Paul Underwood after four matches out with a hip injury.

Peter Holmes is also pushing for a return, but Steve Robinson, David Bell and Chris Coyne remain sidelined, and Kevin Nicholls is a major doubt with a hamstring pull from training, and Heikkinen has been unwell.BR>

Player to watch: Rowan Vine

In a rich vein of form.
