On Sky
The new season is here at last and Luton kick of the proceedings with a live game on Sky against the Foxes, who turned us over last time they were at Kenilworth Road. Leicester did not have a good first half of the season, and at one time looked like relegation candidates. However they experienced a resurgency under the new management of Rob Kelly to finish repectably, and will have higher ambitions for this season.
Mike Newell told www.lutontown.co.uk:
'We'll consider starting everyone we have, and we've got everybody fit, which is a nice position to be in.
'I've got selection dilemmas all over the pitch, which is what you want. You want to be able to choose between all your players.
'They'll be looking forward to it. Leicester had a resurgence at the back-end of last season when the new manager Rob Kelly took over.
It's the first game of the season, it's live on Sky. It's a great game to play in for the players and great for the supporters. We're expecting a full house, and we're delighted to have been chosen for the first live game of the season.'
Rob Kelly told Leicer's official website:
'We are all very excited, but you have to temper that. It is a long season, so you have to be careful not to drain yourself.
'We can't wait to come out of the traps at Luton, but we will have to be careful not to let the cork come out of the bottle too early - or too late.
'Luton did really well last season. They ran out of steam a little towards the end, but that was probably down to the fact that, like us, they didn't have the biggest squad in the world.
'They've had a terrific first season back in the division and I would think that they will now be looking to push on. But we will do our best to make sure that only starts after Saturday.
'They have lost Steve Howard to Derby but they have replaced him with Adam Boyd. That's the world that we live in.
'It will be a tough game and Kenilworth Road is a difficult place to go. It will be frantic, and hot.'
Luton have almost a full squad to choose from with only Paul Underwood missing as he recovers from a serious infection which saw him lose a large proportion of his bodyweight.
It will be interesting to see how he settles in and how he performs at this level, although I expect him to start on the bench.
Leicester are without Rab Douglas and James Wesolowski through injury, while Patrick Kisnobro is suspended.
Again a player who may start on the bench, but if fit and in the 16, he can turn a game with his pace and eye for goal.
Luton Town 2-1 Leicester City
