Luton v Barnsley preview

Luton's next opponents are newly promoted Barnsley, at Oakwell. Barnsley's first ever league victory was a 2-0 home win against Luton in 1898, and Luton will be hoping to avoid a repeat 108 years later!

With Luton still struggling with defensive injuries the news that Sol Davis is back in training will raise spirits somewhat and The Hatters will be looking to get something from the game.

Recent fixtures between the teams have tended to favour the away team with Luton winning 2 and drawing 1 if their last three matches at Oakwell.

Vital Quotes:

Brian Stein told Lutontown .co.uk:

'Barnsley were promoted last season and they are a good footballing side. It is a match we are looking forward to.

'They've got the boy (Paul) Reid who was at Northampton, they've got (Martin) Devaney and then (Brian) Howard in midfield, who looks a decent player and then they've got (Paul) Heckingbottom from Sheffield Wednesday so they've bought a few players in and done well.

'We watched them against Preston recently and I thought they played very well, having played 85 minutes with only ten men.'

Barnsley Team News:

Full back Neil Austin is fit again after ankle ligament problems and Ex-Hatter Michael McIndoe will be hoping for the chance to play against his former club, after turning his career around since leaving Kenilworth Road under a cloud.

Player to watch: Michael McIndoe

Scored for fun at Yeovil and Doncaster and would relish the opportunity to score against the club which dumped him as a youngster with bags of promise but possibly a lack of dedication and self-discipline. Luton probably did him a favour but somehow I doubt he would have seen it that way at the time!

Luton Town Team News:

Sol Davis is back in training and may be available to play but to offset the good news, Kevin Foley has jarred an ankle in training and will require a fitness test. Coyne is still doubtful and Perrett will definitely be missing.

Player to watch: Rowan Vine

Has found goal scoring form hitting 13 in his last 22 starts from the end of last season to the present.

Match Prediction:

Luton are still struggling defensively so I will settle for 1-1
