Leicester City vs. Luton Town

Walker Stadium

Big Game For Luton

After bad results for the Town all round on Tuesday evening, today's clash at Leicester has taken on a great importance.

Failure to strengthen defensively on deadline day has left the Hatters still depleted by injury and Mike Newell may risk Marcus Heikkinen who has only trained for two days since his seriously gashed leg injury.

Luton have performed well at the Walker Stadium since Leicester moved there, and we need to see some belief and passion to forge a positive result, or by 5 pm Luton could be in the relegation zone.

Vital Quotes:

Mike Newell on www.lutontown.co.uk:

'We've got sixteen games left and that's plenty of time to get away from where we are at the moment.

'We are confident that when we've got our best players to choose from that we'll win enough games.' (But we haven't Mike!)

'We did push the boat out in terms of the fees that we offered, and sometimes you can be held to ransom a little bit because of the deadline and because we've brought in money in the recent past.

'I'll never pay massively over the odds and I won't bring any players here who are not good enough to play straight in the First Team - especially at this stage of the season.'

'The major problem at the moment is the injury list.' (Well spotted! :-) )

'It is difficult for supporters to accept that their best players keep on getting taken away from them. How do you think I feel?

'People have to realise that we are now in the position that everybody expected us to be in when we came into the Championship, and we'll deal with that.

'We are talking about fantasy stuff now when you are talking about going up with the money we've spent and the clubs we are competing against.

'When we came out of administration I vowed that we would never go back into it while I was the Manager here.

'The fact that we've brought in money in the last 18 months will make us stable as a football club.'

Leicester City Team News:

Leicester have loan signings Luigi Glombard, Mark Yeates and Geoff Horsfield all available for the match, but midfielder Danny Tiatto has a hamstring injury picked up against Fulham in the cup defeat. Paddy McCarthy and Matty Fryatt remain doubtful.

Player to watch: Geoff Horsfield

Still knows where the net is and could be dangerous.

Luton Town Team News:

Lewis Emanuel should return and Marcus Heikkinen will probably play some part. New loan signing Bjorn Runstrom arrived in time to be eligible for the Coventry match but was carrying a slight training knock so was not risked. He has trained and will play some part, with Mike Newell hinting that he will start.

Brkovic Feeney and Barnett all miss out again and Dean Brill is likely to retain his place after some good performances with Beresford still struggling to get fully fit.

Player to watch: Bjorn Runstrom

Will be interesting to see how good the youngster is. Let's hope he can have the same impact that Rory Allen had a few years back!
