Luton Town vs. Norwich City

Kenilworth Road

27 February 2007

7-45 pm

Hatters v Canaries preview

Luton begin a run of four home matches out of the next five games with the visit of Norwich City postponed from a couple of weeks ago.

Luton's poor run of form seems to have improved recently with two away draws and a home win before last Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Norwich City have also hit a poor run with only three wins since the beginning of December which, like Luton, seems to have stemmed from extremely bad luck with injuries and a small squad to deal with them.

Both sides come into the match still with major injury problems, and it is a match which both side will want to win as they are both languishing in the part of the league table which no one wants to be in.

Norwich have two games in hand over Luton but if Luton can defeat them they will overtake the Canaries in the league table and also match the three points taken last night by Barnsley and overtake them also.

Vital Quotes:

Mike Newell on www.lutontown.co.uk, identified Darren Huckerby as the player who is most likely to cause us problems, as he has done in the past.

'If he's on form and full of confidence then he can be very dangerous.

'He's hurt us before and he's one that you have to watch. He's done it at a higher level and he's done it the top of the Championship on many occasions.'

Of Norwich he said:

'I'd imagine that it's been a fairly frustrating season for them.

'They've changed managers halfway through it - which is never easy - and they've had injuries to key players, particularly Earnshaw - which is a big hit as he's somebody who gets you goals.

'But they have got games in hand and I'm sure that they will feel that they're in a false position.'

Peter Grant said on Norwich's Official website:

'Darren has got a calf problem and it got smashed on Saturday with the one that was the penalty kick,' said Grant.

'That was the one he got done for diving - so he must have done it going off the side of the diving board.

'His calf is sore, so he'll be last moment again.'

Luton Town Team News:

Luton are still without Sol Davis through suspension, as well as all the other perennial sicknotes, but Warren Feeney returns to the squad as Bjorn Runstrom plays his last match for the Town in his loan spell, unless Mike Newell can persuade Bjorn and Fulham to extend it.

Player to watch: Bjorn Runstrom

Will want to show his class if it is to be his last game or not.

Norwich City Team News:

strikers Chris Brown (hamstring and knee), Peter Thorne (thigh) and Dion Dublin (calf) and Robert Earnshaw (groin)will miss out and Darren Huckerby is nursing a calf injury sustained from a foul on him in the penalty area at Coventry which saw our 'friend' Andy D'Urso unfairly show Huckerby a yellow card for diving.

We know to our cost how inept D'Urso is so I sympathise with Mr Huckerby.

Darren will be a last minute fitness test candidate, but knowing our luck, he will play and score!

Player to watch: Darren Huckerby

If he plays he will be a problem!

A last min:Goal a real gutter like we had up at Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday. The game against us will be huge.It is very tight at the bottom especially as Southend still have to play you Barnsley,Burnley,Leeds and Hull before the end of the season. All near the bottom.
