Luton v Doncaster Preview

Luton will be looking to improve their precarious league position with a victory and try to build some momentum towards a run of better results. However, Doncaster started well and have also fallen away a bit and with an almost identical record to the Town's, will want to get something out of the game themselves.

Vital Quotes:

Kevin Blackwell on www.lutontown.co.uk:

'They're a good footballing side and I know Sean likes to get them playing football when he can. But clearly they are a team that's struggling a bit at the moment. It could be a similar situation to what we had at Huddersfield on Saturday. There their manager put out a dogged side rather than a footballing side and it could be the same thing this weekend.'

Get your excuses in early that's what I say! ;-) )

Sean O'Driscoll, (under fire for his position at Doncaster) on Doncater's official website: 'I'm looking for the players to bounce back at Luton on Saturday. (Re the Walsall home defeat on Tuesday): It's the first time they have let me down since I came to the club.'

Luton Town Team News:

Luton could be without David Bell, with a rib injury sustained in the Yeovil encounter, in addition to the long term absentees, Parkin, Underwood and Langley. Peschisolido is also unlikely to be fit, and Keith Keane who is recovering well after an operation on a hernia by the same surgeon who repaired a similar injury for Michael Owen, could possibly play but is unlikely to be risked.

Paul Furlong is back after a one match suspension.

If Bell does not make it, we could very well see Dean Morgan and Darren Currie playing the wide roles.

With a clean sheet at Yeovil, the experiment of playing all three central defenders may well continue.

Player to watch: Paul Furlong

Likely to be fired up after an unfortunate sending off at Huddersfield.

Doncaster Rovers Team News:

Doncaster will definitely be without striker Lewis Guy, sent off last week against Walsall and now suspended for this match. Guy, who has scored four times for Doncaster will be a big loss for the away side, as will be the absence of another striker, Paul Heffernan. Paul is truggling with injury and unlikely to be fit. Also likely to miss out with injury are Mark McCammon and Jason Price, the latter with achilles problems.

Player to watch: Richie Wellens

Summer signing Ritchie Wellens has scored three goals in 11 appearances, and will be looking to continue that form with two strikers out injured.

Match Facts & Stats

Luton have won 10, drawn 4 and lost 6 of the 20 encounters so far.

Ref Watch:

Andy Woolmer - Northants - used to be linesman to me on the UCL, can be a bit pedantic but let's hope he is better than last week's Northants ref!

Match Prediction:

More in hope than anticipation 2-1 to the Town.
