Calvin Andrew scored his first goal for the senior side, two minutes from time, to secure all three points against Plymouth Argyle.
The Luton teenager, who was thought to be out for the season with a knee injury and was sent back from his loan spell with Bristol City, was a late inclusion in the squad, coming on in the 84th minute for the injured Markus Heikkinen, to tap home the winner four minutes later, after a spectacular equaliser by another substitute, Rowan Vine.
The match had all the hallmarks of an end-of-season meaningless match for much of the afternoon, and at half time it was difficult to see a goal being scored. Luton had much the better of the match, but squandered a plethora of openings before going a goal down to substitute Buzsaky in the 70th minute, which seemed, at the time to have been the winner.
With Kevin Foley missing in addition to the six players out injured on Saturday, Hatters boss Mike Newell was down to the bare bones. Leon Barnett, who limped off on Saturday with a foot injury, played through the pain barrier to allow Steve Howard to assume his normal role up front, and Morgan and Bell were selected in the starting eleven. Plymouth gave young keeper Luke McCormick his first start of the season ahead of Romain Larrieu.
An early mistake by Leon Barnett let in on-loan Vincent Pericard who fed Leon Clarke, also on loan, from Wolves, but he missed the opportunity.
Very little of note happened in the first half, but Howard had two reasonable chances late in the half. Eight minutes from the break he forced a save from McCormick, before shortly afterwards Doumbe presented the ball to Feeney who looked to have had the best chance to score himself but played the ball to Howard whose shot went straight at the debutante keeper.
Norris missed two good opportunities, which probably did little to enhance his profile to the watching Norwich scouts, who were reputedly there to run the rule over both him and Carlos Edwards.
Luton made their usual storming start in the second half and Howard went close with a header but McCormick was not troubled.
A Paul Wotton free-kick from 28 yards went through the Luton wall, but Beresford, was equal to it, but needed two goes to stop it.
Buzsaky joined the fray after 54 minutes and livened up the home attack. On 59 minutes he got on the end of an Evans free kick but blasted the ball wide from a good position.
Four minutes later, Wotton crossed for Vincent Pericard to head goalwards. Marlon got to the ball but made a meal of it and spilled it on the line, then dived back to clutch it, although it looked to have gone over the line in the process. Fortunately for the Town stopper, both the Referee and the Assistant Referee were unsighted and could not be sure and therefore waved play on.
Eight minutes later, there was no doubt that the ball was in the Luton net. Barnett's attempted clearance struck Pericard and fell nicely for Buzsaky to hit a thunderous drive past Beresford into the top corner. It was a cracking goal, but Luton could consider themselves unlucky to be behind. At the same time, both teams' wayward finishing to that point seemed to suggest that the three points were in the bag for the home side.
Nine minutes later, Edwards crossed for Howard to head the ball to Vine who acrobatically hooked the ball into the net. Just as that signalled an opportunity for Luton to turn up the heat and press for a winner, Heikkinen limped off and Mike Newell gave Calvin Andrew the nod. He came on as a third striker while Enoch dropped back to defence, and four minutes later Luton scored an unlikely winner. Vine drove forward and crossed from the edge of the box to find the unmarked Calvin Andrew to tap in the deciding goal.
Much of the match was unmemorable, but it was quite a performance with seven senior squad members unavailable!
